Terms of Service

1. What Tune Does

Tune helps you manage your screen time using Apple's Screen Time framework. When you start a lock session, the apps and websites you've selected become inaccessible. You unlock by using your Tune key.

• Streaks: Track your daily usage of a selected app against a time limit you set. If you exceed your limit, you can close the app to keep your streak or break it, which resets your count to zero. Buddy streaks let you share accountability with a partner.
• Intermission: A short break from blocking while staying in a lock session. Up to 15 minutes per day across up to 3 sessions. Blocking resumes automatically when it ends.
• Emergency unlocks: A safety net for when you need immediate access to your phone. You start with 5 and can restore them via a one-time in-app purchase.
• Strict mode: Prevents all apps from being deleted while you're locked, including Tune. Can only be turned off while unlocked.

2. Your Responsibility

Tune gives you powerful tools to limit your own phone usage. By using these features, you accept that:

• Blocked apps and websites will be inaccessible during a lock session
• Strict mode will prevent you from deleting apps until you unlock
• You should ensure you have access to essential apps before starting a session
• Emergency unlocks are limited and should be used thoughtfully

3. Account and Data

Tune does not require an account. Your device is identified by a random device ID. For details on what data we collect, see our Privacy Policy.

4. Purchases

Tune is free to use. The only in-app purchase is emergency unlocks, processed through the Apple App Store. We do not store your payment information. Refunds are handled by Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com.

5. Intellectual Property

The Tune app, Tune key hardware, and all related software, designs, and technology are the property of Tune. You may not reverse engineer, disassemble, decompile, or modify the Tune key or app software. You may not copy, distribute, or create derivative works based on any part of the product.

6. License

We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use the Tune app and key for their intended purpose. This license does not transfer any ownership rights to you. It terminates if you violate these terms.

7. Availability

We work to keep Tune reliable, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted service. Tune relies on Apple's Screen Time framework, and its behavior may be affected by iOS updates or device settings. We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time.

8. Limitation of Liability

Tune is provided as-is. We are not liable for:

• Inability to access blocked apps or websites during a lock session
• Missed notifications or communications while apps are blocked
• Consequences of using strict mode, intermission, or app blocking features
• Interruptions in service or feature availability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from the use of Tune is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the claim.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

10. Changes to These Terms

If we make material changes, we'll notify you through the app or on this page.
